Three scales on the glass

Each of our glass measuring cups carries three printed scales: cups, ounces and milliliters. A recipe in any of them reads straight off the side, and the 4 cup size covers the quart of stock or brine that most recipes ask for. Set the cup on the counter and read it at eye level, as NIST recommends: from above, liquid always looks higher than it is.

The cups go in the microwave, so the same cup that measured the milk warms it. USDA FSIS lists heatproof glass among the containers that are safe to microwave.

When a gallon makes sense

The 1 gallon pitcher is polypropylene, not glass, and that is on purpose: a gallon of liquid is heavy, and a light plastic pitcher is easier to hold steady with a wet hand. Its markings are engraved, so they stay after many dishwasher cycles. Keep one for food and a second one for the garage or the pool.

Questions

Questions about Luvan measuring cups and pitchers

Which Luvan measuring cup fits your microwave?

All three glass sizes do. The 4 cup is 7.3 by 5.9 inches and 3.9 inches tall, and the 2 cup is smaller still. The 6 cup suits a full-size microwave.

Can you read Luvan measuring cups in milliliters?

Yes. Each glass cup has three scales printed on it: cups, ounces and milliliters.

Is the Luvan gallon pitcher you get glass too?

No. The 1 gallon pitcher is food-grade polypropylene, light and hard to break, with markings engraved into the plastic.
